KTool features for Kindle owners: articles, RSS, and magazines

KTool sends web content to your Kindle and collects articles into ebooks. The features you need depend on whether you save an occasional page or read the same publications every day.

Here is what to try, with links to the relevant settings.

Send an article from where you found it

Use Quick Send to submit a URL, or install a KTool app or browser extension on the device you browse with. KTool extracts the article and prepares it for Kindle delivery.

Try a few pages from the sites you read regularly. Article layouts vary, and a successful conversion of one website doesn't establish that every other site will work. Pay particular attention to images, tables, and text behind a login.

Collect articles into magazines

Daily Read and Weekly Read combine articles into a scheduled ebook. You choose the delivery time in magazine settings; Weekly Read also lets you choose the day.

A Custom Magazine is useful for a subject or project, such as a set of essays you want to read before writing a proposal. Add the articles, arrange them, and deliver the magazine manually when it is ready.

The table of contents lets you move between articles without opening a separate document for each one.

Receive RSS feeds and email newsletters

Add feeds on the RSS page. Each subscription has a delivery destination, including Daily Read, Weekly Read, or a Custom Magazine. Use the destination to keep a busy news source separate from occasional long essays.

For email newsletters, forward an issue to your personal KTool inbox. In newsletter settings, choose whether issues go directly to Kindle or into a daily or weekly magazine.

Choose what appears in the document

Renderer settings control whether KTool includes images and clickable links. There is also an image optimization option and an option to include QR codes for YouTube videos. A QR code gives you a way to open the video on another device while reading the surrounding article on Kindle.

Kindle's own reading controls handle the text display available for the document. KTool's renderer settings concern the content it prepares before delivery.

Find a previous send

History lists earlier deliveries and includes resend and download actions where the content is still available. Treat it as a delivery record; a send doesn't tell you whether you finished reading the article.

Check the current plans for feature access and limits before choosing a subscription. To test the basic workflow, send one article and inspect it on the Kindle you will use.
