Five KTool settings and habits for better Kindle articles

A converted article needs more than readable paragraphs. You may need its diagrams, a useful reading order, or a way to return to a referenced video.

These five adjustments concern the document KTool sends and when you receive it. Try them with a familiar article so you can compare the output with the original.

1. Keep the images that explain the article

In renderer settings, Render Images controls whether images appear in the content. Keep it enabled for tutorials and articles where a figure carries part of the explanation.

The same page includes Optimize Images. Check a sample after changing image settings, especially if color differences or small labels matter to the article. Use the original page on a suitable display when the converted figure is hard to interpret.

2. Keep access to references

Render Links includes clickable links in the article. Leave it enabled when you expect to revisit sources or follow references. Opening a link may take you into Kindle's browser, so you may prefer to return to the original on another device.

For YouTube embeds, the QR-code option provides a reference you can scan with a phone. You can read the surrounding explanation now and watch the video later.

3. Put the first article where you want it

Review a magazine before sending it. Remove entries you don't need and arrange the remaining articles in the order you want to read them.

For a topic collection, start with background material before technical detail. For daily news, lead with the story you want time for. The table of contents still lets you move around once the ebook reaches Kindle.

4. Deliver ahead of your reading time

Magazine settings let you set the daily delivery hour and the weekly delivery day and hour. Check the time zone as well.

Allow time for the issue to be prepared and downloaded. Before a journey, open it on your Kindle while you have an internet connection. A scheduled send alone doesn't confirm that the document is available on the device yet.

5. Test one change at a time

After changing a renderer option, send a new test document. A file already downloaded to Kindle won't change when you update KTool's settings.

Inspect the relevant section of the new document before adjusting another option. If the problem persists, keep the source URL and describe the difference in a support request. That gives support a specific article and setting to reproduce.
