How to read newspaper articles on Kindle with KTool

You can use KTool to read newspaper articles on Kindle by sending individual links or collecting a publication's RSS feed. The result is a converted document containing the articles KTool can access and parse.

This works best when you want a selection of stories to read later. It doesn't recreate the publisher's printed newspaper layout.

Try one article from your newspaper

Open a public article you want to read and send its URL using Quick Send or a KTool app or extension. If this is your first send, complete the Kindle delivery setup first.

When it arrives, check the end of the article as well as the opening paragraphs. Look for captions and images that matter to the reporting. Newspaper pages can include interactive graphics, embedded video, or tables that need the original website.

Test another article from the same publication if the first one works. Different sections sometimes use different page layouts.

Collect a section through RSS

If the newspaper provides RSS feeds, choose a section you want to follow. Add the feed on KTool's RSS page and route it to Daily Read or Weekly Read.

A section feed is often a more manageable starting point than a whole publication. Review the first Daily Read issue and remove stories you don't want before delivery. Set the delivery hour and time zone in magazine settings.

You can mix feeds from different publications in a magazine. Choose sources that add reporting you want, and check how much the resulting issue asks you to read.

Check access before relying on a subscription feed

Paywalls and login requirements can limit what a URL-based service can retrieve. Being logged into a newspaper in your own browser doesn't establish that the same content is accessible to KTool's RSS fetcher.

Keep your publisher subscription and use a delivery method that provides the content you have access to. If the publisher emails the full article, you can try forwarding that issue to your KTool newsletter inbox. If the email only contains a preview, the resulting document may be incomplete too.

For a subscription problem, send support the publication name and an example URL before committing to a large setup. Never include your publisher password.

A useful first newspaper magazine might contain a few stories from one section. Read that issue on your Kindle, check the formatting, and add more sources only when the result is something you want to keep receiving.
