Substack to Kindle: send posts, RSS feeds, and newsletters

You can send a Substack post to Kindle with the KTool browser extension, follow a publication through RSS, or forward its newsletter emails. Choose based on where you receive the full article and whether you want one post or future issues too.
Choose a method for your subscription

KTool does not include subscriptions to Substack publications. Keep your subscription with the writer if you want to read their paid work.
Before sending anything, connect your Kindle. Save the device's delivery address and approve the full personal KTool sender shown in your account.
Send one Substack post
Use this method for an older essay, a single recommendation, or a paid post you can read in your browser.
- Install and sign in to the KTool browser extension.
- Open the post in your desktop browser. Sign in to Substack if needed.
- Make sure the full article has loaded, including the text after any subscriber preview.
- Open the extension and choose Send to Kindle.
- Sync your Kindle on Wi-Fi after Amazon processes the document.
The extension uses the loaded page. A URL pasted into Quick Send does not carry your Substack login, so a paid article can return only the public preview there. Quick Send is useful for posts that are accessible without signing in.
A converted article is for reading its text. Open the original post for comments, embedded audio, or interactive material that does not carry over to the document.
Follow a publication with RSS
For recurring public posts, open KTool RSS, enter the Substack publication link, and choose Subscribe. Check the publication, select its delivery destination, and confirm.
Substack also exposes a feed at the publication URL followed by /feed, for example https://your-publication.substack.com/feed. Substitute the publication's actual address. This is the format in Substack's RSS documentation.
Choose direct delivery for separate articles or a magazine to collect posts. Set the magazine's delivery schedule in Magazines. You can use Weekly Read for essays you want to save for the weekend.
RSS needs a paid KTool plan that includes RSS access. It is not included in free or trial accounts. Feed checks happen in the background, and subscribing should not be treated as an import of every past post. The RSS-to-Kindle guide covers setup and queue checks.
Read paid Substack posts on Kindle
A public feed may include only the public version of a paid post. Your subscription does not make that feed a private copy of everything you can read. Substack documents that RSS sees the non-subscriber version of audience-specific content.
If the newsletter email contains the complete issue, forward it to the personal address shown on KTool's Newsletters page. That address ends in @inbox.ktool.io. In newsletter settings, choose direct delivery, Daily Read, or Weekly Read, then save.
If the email contains only a preview, open the post while signed in and use the browser extension. Check the end of the resulting document to confirm that the text after the paywall was captured.
A private Substack podcast feed is for listening to podcast episodes. Do not assume it supplies the full text of paid articles.
Automate after checking an issue
Once a forwarded issue looks right on Kindle, you can create a rule in your email provider to forward future messages from that publication. The newsletter guide includes a Gmail filter workflow.
Use a specific sender or subject condition and check which messages match. A writer may send subscriber notices from the same address as their essays. Keep the rule focused on what you want to read.
For each publication, choose RSS or email forwarding as the automatic route. Enabling both can deliver the same post twice. You can still send an individual older post with the extension whenever you want.
If a post is missing or cut short
For a missing RSS post, check that the source feed contains it, then check the feed's selected destination and any magazine schedule. For a forwarded issue, check the recipient address and whether the forwarding rule matched it.
For a short document, compare it with the exact page or email you sent. A complete post visible only after signing in needs the browser extension or a full-text email. If the source contains the missing text but KTool omits it, email Daniel with the publication and an example you can share.
